Experiences of an ESL teacher from small town Virginia living in small town Mexico... not the exciting traditional Mexico expected, but enjoying it nonetheless.

Que Ironia!
Fire hydrant taking revenge on dog after years of one sided relationships. ;-)
I just had to throw this photo up here; it's one of my favorites... ENJOY!!!
I’m a high school ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Fairfax County Virginia. At the beginning of my third year as a teacher I received a letter (addressed to me as an administrator, oops!) from the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program requesting that I invite my teachers to apply for an exchange. I had mentioned to a friend several weeks earlier that I would love to live in Mexico or another Spanish speaking country to improve my Spanish, so I thought why not apply for the program myself.
So here I am spending the 2007-2008 school year living in Mexicali, Mexico.
